| The Scoop On Lotteries |
Lotteries are geared to make money
for the people running the lottery. Recently when the Canadian
7 / 47 lottery had their biggest draw of $54
million, the media was reporting the odds of winning the
Jackpot at about 1 in 21 million. You actually had a better
change of becoming Prime Minister of Canada. The power ball
lottery in the United States has the worst odds of around
1 in 80 million.
Why do people play or get excited?
To make dreams come true.
Some people purchase computer programs for generating numbers,
while others create charts and graphs.
All substantial wins I have had were on quick pick tickets
- computer generated numbers by the agent selling the
ticket.
I prefer to just get a ticket and then get it checked after
the draw (little time spent).
I view playing the lottery as a recreation and not a form
of profession. I would like to win a big jackpot like
others,
but wins of a few hundred or thousand dollars is a nice
windfall to have on a regular basis.
